If you are anything like me, you probably have a lot of holiday shopping still ahead of you.  It seems that every year I find myself squeezing my holiday shopping into the last minute. There are plenty of reasons why I always end up in this predicament year after year; a busy schedule, not knowing what to get, not wanting to battle crowds. And of course, there’s always at least one person on my list I avoid shopping for because I have no idea what to get them.

Luckily, there are plenty of small businesses on Staten Island’s North Shore that I love supporting, especially during the holiday season. These local businesses provide great gifts at great prices, and by shopping locally, I don’t have to worry about things like long lines, parking, crowds, or traffic.

This holiday season; please consider supporting your local businesses. There are so many benefits to shopping locally: it preserves the local culture, improves the local economy, creates jobs, enriches the community, and helps build relationships by providing a personalized experience. Below are some examples of local businesses you can support, and at the same time, get your holiday shopping done!

Surely, someone on your list has a favorite place to dine at. Or, perhaps you know of a place they would love but haven’t tried yet. A gift certificate to a local restaurant is a perfect gift that not only supports local businesses, but gives people on your list a reason to get out and celebrate!

There are so many restaurants on Staten Island’s North Shore worth listing, but here are some of my favorites.

Beans and Leaves Coffee and Tea Café – 422 Forest Avenue
