Although the last days of summer vacation have come and gone, the warm weather certainly hasn’t. One of my favorite things to do this time of year is head out to some of my favorite Staten Island restaurants to enjoy some outdoor dining.
In my opinion, fall is the perfect time to do some outdoor dining; the weather is perfect no matter what time of day you go, and the views can be stunning as the fall foliage starts to change.
Al fresco dining can be ideal for any occasion. Whether you are joining a friend for a casual brunch or have a romantic dinner planned, the warm weather, sunshine, waterfront views and warm breezes can be ideal companions to the perfect meal.
Read on for more information on some of my favorite outdoor dining spaces on Staten Island.
Angelina’s Ristorante
399 Ellis St., Tottenville
718-227-2900; AngelinasRistorante.com
Located on the South Shore of Staten Island in Tottenville, this Italian Restaurant is located at the mouth of the Island’s busiest shipping channels. Waterside dining provides stunning views of the Arthur Kill and Raritan Bay. For an even more entertaining night out, visit Angelina’s on a night where they have live entertainment.
Blue Restaurant
1115 Richmond Terr., Livingston
718-273-7777; BlueRestaurantNYC.com
For a unique waterfront view of nautical traffic, Blue Restaurant is the place to go. Located along the Kill van Kull in the Livingston section of Staten Island, this restaurant provides a mix of Mediterranean, Turkish and pan-Asian cuisine, adding diversity to the restaurant options on Staten Island’s North Shore and elegance to the borough’s industrial waterfront. Featuring two outdoor seating areas, patrons can enjoy views of the tug boats, tankers, cargo ships and barges that chug by. Visit my website here for a more thorough review on Blue Restaurant.
Gatsby’s on the Bay
695 Bay St., Stapleton
718-442-8729; GatsbysOnTheBaySI.com
Located in the Stapleton area of Staten Island, Gatsby’s on the Bay brings the Roaring 20’s back to Staten Island. Featuring New American cuisine, this quaint restaurant blends the old with the new: reviving the history of the 1920’s while also adding new flavors to the menu items of the Jazz Age. Enjoy anything from a sandwich for lunch or a seafood platter for dinner on the outdoor patio that provides a peek at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
South Fin Grill
300 Father Capodanno Blvd., South Beach
718-447-7679; SouthFinGrill.com
For an ocean view alongside the boardwalk, visit South Fin Grill, located in the South Beach section of Staten Island. The “Blue Deck” near the restaurant’s entrance offers an outdoor tiki bar, and is sure to provide a fun and entertaining atmosphere, especially if there is live entertainment leading the party.
Zest
977 Bay St., Rosebank
718-390-8477; Zestaurant.com
Located only a few blocks from the infamous Alice Austin house and all of its breathtaking views, Zest provides perhaps the most ideal setting for outdoor dining on Staten Island. Offering French-American fare, the outdoor garden serves as an oasis that provides an element of peace and serenity to its surroundings.
I hope you’ll head out and enjoy dining at some of these locations while the weather is ideal.
