St. George Greenmarket
Operated through Grow NYC, a privately funded nonprofit organization, the St. George Greenmarket visits the corner of St. Mark’s Place and Hyatt St. on Saturdays from 8am-2pm. The Greenmarket in St. George is one of 54 urban farmers markets operating in New York City, offering a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, flowers, cheese, meat, seafood, and baked goods- all organic and all locally grown. Residents can also drop off their food scraps and rechargeable battery and mobile phone recyclables at the St. George Greenmarket location, and even view live cooking demonstrations. Information on how to participate in the recycling and composting projects that Grow NYC offers is also available at this location. For more information on Grow NYC’s programs, including other locations of Greenmarkets, visit their website at www.Grownyc.org.
